Caps

Caps (The Firefighter)

YOU CAN'T LEAVE
AND STILL THINK
WE
ARE GOING TO BE BEST FRIENDS
WHEN YOU LEFT ME HERE
YOU DID

AND YOU CALL EVERY TWO MONTHS
TO TELL ME HOW HAPPY
YOU ARE
WITH STEFHAN THE FIREFIGHTER
AND INVITE ME
SKIING
WITH ALL YOUR NEW FRIENDS
AND PRETEND
I NEVER TOLD YOU
I'VE NEVER SKIIED

you want trifles? i got trifles. i don't think i dare put this one on my personal site for fear of lucy (aka YOU) reading and recognizing her boyfriend's name/occupation, but it's something i wrote that i didn't hate immediately, so in the name of fertility it's up for grabs.

Ecstatic to have you exist again. Condolences and consolation in regards to the professor-issues.

I like the back-and-forth with tense in this ("LEAVE" to "LEFT", "SKIING" to "SKIIED"), and the two stanzas work well with the 'then-now' duality of the poem.

It reads quickly, like a flash fire.

Hah, in the name of fertility. Fuck fertility. It may seem important but it doesn't make a person's life come to mean anything significant, only a mere a perpetuation of madness in the end without right life understanding before it.

From what little I know about this though it's an understandable reaction and I'm sure there's mounds more than my day's visit could have told me.

People grow like small little details in the heart though to be the size of elephants, great burdens to be sure, but we bear them gladly and understandably it comes to seem incredibly insensitive when a detail on the other side has been lost track of when one has only lost track of oneself in one's monomania over the 'trifles'.

I guess my point is you two are in reality on even ground although it may not seem so. Pay no heed to fertility, it only festers.

Only my view for what it's worth, don't mean to dissect you in front of people though. I hope if my words had any edge the operation was a success though. If nothing else it's something to sharpen yourself against.
